Hector Garza @ Hausmann Millworks • 32
Hector Garza has been a flourishing independent artist and a dedicated Fine Arts instructor at Holy Cross of San Antonio for the last 12 years. His art, featuring bright vivid colors and strong lines, celebrates his cultural identity as a Mexican American while also reimagining the intersection of Mexican traditions and contemporary American pop culture. Garza’s art reflects a deep and thoughtful engagement with a wide range of issues: immigration, cultural and gender identity, border crossings, family history and religion, to name a few. His work has been featured in various venues, including Centro Cultural Aztlan, UT San Antonio, El Sol Studios, Pulquerios, and at a number of venues in the King William Historical District. Garza received a BA in art with a minor in music from Our Lady of the Lake University and an MA in Education from the University of Notre Dame. Currently, Garza is completing an MFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
