Chubasco. 2014. Oil on canvas. 30 x 30 in.

Adán Hernández grew up on the Westside of San Antonio. He has been a serious artist for 30 years. His work is included in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and it has been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout he U.S, Europe aand Mexico. His collectors include Hollywood insiders such as actors Taylor Hackford, Helen Mirren and Sean Ferrer; comedian Cheech Marin; CEOs Rudy Payne and Walter Ulloa (Intravision); and film producer Stratton Leopold (Mission Impossible). His work is shown regularly in Los Angeles.

Adán created all original artwork for the character “Cruz” in the film Bound by Honor. This feature film has become a cult classic worldwide, especially to Latinos here in America and in the barrios. The film’s incredible success was due in part to Adán’s artwork. Latinos saw art that reflected their reality for the first time in a feature film.

Adán’s work was included in Cheech Marin’s blockbuster traveling exhibition Chicano Visions: American Painters on the Verge, which broke audience records in museums across America—800,000 saw the show at the Smithsonian—, and it traveled to Europe and Tokyo over the next few years.
