Ernesto Olivo is a contemporary visual artist and art educator born in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico. As an art educator, he believes that bringing art and artists into schools and neighborhoods is vital to the growth and development of our communities. His view is that art defines the world around us and sparks conversation about issues that impact us as individuals and our surrounding environment. He is an advocate for social justice and has been a community organizer for 20 years, working locally and nationally. He currently lives in San Antonio and is an art educator at Artpace SA and The Martinez Street Women’s Center’s Girl Zone after school program, and as a DJ and musician.
