Woodlawn Lake. 2016. Acrylic on canvas. 16 x 20 in.

“Some people call my work art…I call it Passion…Some call it a gift…I call it Love. Siempre me a encantado barro. I truly love clay, but I have a true passion for painting and assembling retablos, nichos and santitas. This love and passion started when I was six years old. I was fascinated by my Mom’s and Grandma’s altares. I love what I do. And I am grateful to God for all the wonderful visions I have so deep in my mind.”
Rosie Zertuche, who lives in the area, is also a student of Laurel Gibson in the Bihl Haus GO! Arts program at Casitas de Villa Corona, a Merced Housing of Texas community for older adults.
