Portrait of Emily Rose. 2016. Oil on canvas. 36 x 24 in. Photo by Eric Lane.
“Emily Rose is the daughter of one of my best friends. She is very special. When Emily was a baby she nearly died. She was in a horrific car accident in which her baby carriage was thrown from the car and landed by a rural farm fence. Emily was finally found after several hours by one of the detectives who heard a baby crying. Even at an early age, her fierce determination for life gave her the impetus that shows in her aura, in her ability to play the violin, to love, to live. Emily loves animals, especially dogs. She is an inspiration to me and to all who love her. I would describe Emily Rose simply as ʻGrace in Motion.ʼ”
