Daniel Rios Rodriguez

Crosseyed and Painless. 2013. Oil and mixed media on canvas. 9 x 11 in.

“As a painter I have always worked with what is closest to me. I believe that working from a place of visual and emotional experience allows for a greater individual spirit to drive the making of a work of art. As a teacher, I encourage students to pursue their own ideas through new and sometimes challenging means. What will result is not only learning at every turn but often a glimpse of the energy that keeps us all working.”

Born in Killeen, Texas, Daniel Rios Rodriguez currently lives and works in San Antonio. He received an MFA in Painting and Printmaking from the Yale School of Art in 2007, and a BFA from the University of Illinois in Chicago in 2005. He has exhibited his work both nationally and internationally, and includes a recent solo exhibition of paintings in New York City in early 2014.
